At FLY, it isn't enough to just 'do good'. Our focus is on delivering measurable benefits. Every dollar invested in FLY delivers a 10 to 1 savings to taxpayers. In other words, we are a highly cost-effective nonprofit organization that saves taxpayers millions of dollars each year. Some statistics to consider:
- It costs $71,000 to incarcerate one youth for one year. FLY's most expensive program costs $7,000 per year.
- 3 months of incarceration costs $21,150. The equivalent time spent in a FLY program costs only a $1,000.

Our cost effectiveness is the result of an approach that focuses on delivering guidance, education and emotional support, often using fully-trained, non-paid volunteers, including youth graduates of our programs. The focus is on building skills that a troubled youth needs in order to be able to handle life challenges. We are not burdened with housing, security, meals and other costly expenses.
